The Shuffleboard Club Halloween celebration will be held in Clubhouse 3, Room 1 from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24. After admiring one another’s attire and enjoying a potluck meal, club members and guests will play the game Left, Right, Center for the remainder of the evening. People are asked to bring three $1 bills and 12 quarters to play. Members who helped to put the evening together include Micki Aiello, Roger Bennett, Arlene Cullison, Sally Fowler, Sue Garry and Marlene Levy.

A well-attended general membership meeting was held Oct. 12. It was reported that attendance at the courts for the month of September was 201 participants. Reports were given by all of the club officers and it was announced that two important items—air conditioning at the courts and installation of a Dutch door— have been requested of the GRF Board for the coming year. The club also wanted to clarify that open play on Monday mornings is available to both members and non-members alike. Any resident wanting to join the Shuffleboard Club should contact Membership Chair Patti Peterson at 562-714-7072.

The Oct. 6 Tuesday league was cancelled due to extreme heat.

Oct. 9 Friday league results:

Team Rod triumphed over Team Patti 8-4. Team Susan upset Team Carol 8-4. All game winners were Mark Filohoski, Rita Filohoski, Anita Giroud, Susan Hopewell and Bert Thompson.
