First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Jesus is often considered the first missionary of the Christian church and set the example for many to follow. Today, missionaries work throughout the world in countries far away as well as neighborhoods in their own communities. The work they do is only possible by the many churches throughout the world that support them.

First Christian Church proudly supports a variety of missionaries with financial support and prayers.

• Child Evangelism of West Orange County, which reaches out to children in the local community through after-school Good News Clubs.

• The Foreign Affiliates of Medical Evangelism, which reaches out around the world through medical professionals who share the love of Jesus and healing.

• The Korea Gospel Mission in Seoul, South Korea, headed by Dr. Chae and his wife and son, who run an orphanage, a Bible college and a radio broadcast that reaches North Korea.

• The Long Beach Rescue Mission, which provides three meals a day to hundreds of people, plus chapel services to share the gospel.

• In North Burma, Thailand, the Morse family translates the Bible into local languages.

• The Post Traumatic Growth Institute is led by former Marine Ken and Liz Korkow, where volunteers minister to veterans who suffer from physical and mental handicaps to share the love of Jesus.

• Samaritans Purse, founded by the late Franklin Graham, which reaches out to many worldwide through disaster relief.

• Set Free Prison Ministries in Riverside, California, which brings the Gospel message of Jesus Christ to all prisoners who are willing to hear.

• 40 Days for Life, which holds prayer vigils outside abortion clinics around the world.

Weekly Services

Sunday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and traditional services with hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Sherry Parmenter at the piano. Al and Sherry Parmenter will bring the special music this week. Saturday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.

Midweek Studies

Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

The Bible study is on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
