First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

In Psalm 119, the word “testimonies” appears 22 times, referring to an understanding of the Lord’s words. Psalm 119:2 reads, “How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, who seek Him with all their heart.” Other verses speak of rejoicing in the way of God’s testimonies and finding delight in them. The psalmist also asks the Lord to incline his heart toward the testimonies and turn his feet to follow them, as though they were his lifeline.

Throughout the Psalm, the writer describes the benefits of the Lord’s testimonies and statutes. He acknowledges that when he failed to seek understanding of God’s words, he became afflicted and went astray, leading him to cry out for salvation and the strength to keep the Lord’s testimonies. Ultimately, he declares, “those who love Your law have great peace.”

Psalm 119 is the testimony of a man who followed his own way until he remembered the Lord’s many blessings, rediscovered His testimonies, and declared in verse 161, “My heart stands in awe of Your words.”
