The Photo Arts Club will meet Aug. 13 at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. The assignment is to photograph circles. Members should submit their best three photos to Ben Benjamins at benbenjamins@ hotmail.com by Aug. 11, to allow him time to compile the photos in a presentation. Photos submitted past the deadline may not be included in the presentation.

At the July 9 meeting, President Regine Schumacher invited residents to share their email addresses on the sign-in sheet to receive club notifications. In addition, she solicited ideas for future photo assignments and club field trips.

In the Optum Health Care Center, a wall in the hallway to the therapy department is dedicated to the club’s photography. Previously, an adjacent wall was dedicated to the Art League—however, the Art League recently relinquished their wall. The Photo Arts Club will fill the space. Currently there are five empty hangers.

During the sharing portion of the meeting, Les Coombes presented two photos of Maasaii that he took in Tanzania, one in black and white and one in color. Lu DeSantis showed three prize-winning photos that she exhibited at the Art League’s Art in Bloom exhibition on June 20.

Benjamins displayed members’ photos of windows and doors. He emphasized that it is important that at least one part of the photo is sharp. The submissions were excellent and were discussed in detail.

Individuals with technical or other questions will be paired with someone who can help them for individual discussion after the meeting. Everyone is welcome.
