Velvetones: July 19 in CH 4
The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra will perform July 19 at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. They are Leisure World’s own professional big band, playing big band swing and jazz standards under the direction of Jeff Plum. They perform on the first and third Sunday evenings at 6 p.m.
They vividly bring this classic music to life for a new generation of audiences, authentically recreating the style, musicality, and essence of Swing Era band music. They pepper their repertoire with contemporary pop hits to broaden their audience.
Whether it be a well-known big band standard, contemporary jazz showcase, sentimental vocal ballad, or a hard swinging brass feature, the Velvetones provides a unique and complete package of musical entertainment.
Catch a ride on a GRF Minibus
GRF Transportation is offering free rides to and from GRF weekend dances through August. When a resident is ready for a ride, they can call 562-472-1367 for the on-call bus service.
A shuttle will be dispatched to pick up the resident at that time. Passengers can be picked up near their homes or any other location within Leisure World. The pickup location must be in a place where the resident can see the approaching bus and the driver of the bus can see the resident.
Shuttles will be provided at the end of the dances to return riders to their units. The last shuttle will depart at 9:20 p.m. For more information, contact kathyt@lwsb.com.
