Join Faith Christian Assembly for more encouraging, biblical messages at the weekly Sunday service at 10:30 a.m., or the Wednesday morning Bible study at 11, where people dive deeper into the word of God.

This week, in the wake of this sacred season of celebrating the resurrection of the Lord, it would be beneficial for believers to take a good look at those who God, in his providence, has placed in their lives. What are the spiritual needs of those persons? Do they know Jesus? If they are not following Christ, clearly he is their greatest need. But too often they look everywhere except to Jesus. So, what should be a believer’s response to these people?

Jesus made it clear in his word that believers are to reach out to those people he has placed in their lives. In Matthew 4, Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee when he saw Simon Peter and Andrew casting their nets. They were busy fishing when Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” Matthew 4:19.

Are believers fishers of men? It can sound intimidating. When people prayerfully obey the Holy Spirit’s promptings, he will anoint our words with his power. There are many times in the Bible where a countless number of lives were transformed by people who spoke truth to another person, even in very few words.

The reaction of Simon Peter and Andrew to Jesus’ question? “They immediately left their nets and followed him” Matthew 4:20.
