Art League Presentation: Landscape Artist


Each month, the Art League provides hands-on workshops and presentations provided by noted Southern California artists who share their skills, hacks and creativity with Leisure World residents. Kacie Lyn Martinez will present to the league on Tuesday, June 9, at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. Her Catina Studio was born to use art to help people explore themselves, their imaginations and their relationships.

Hui O Hula: Instructor Return


Hui O Hula wishes an “E komo mai i ka home,” or welcome home, to Leisure World’s longtime hula instructor Jojo Weingart from her travels with family in China. The class continued in her absence with the help and guidance of senior dancers, and a Tuesday beginners’ class has wrapped up after five meetings. Regular classes continue on the normal schedule: Tuesdays at 1 p.m. upstairs in the Clubhouse

Leisure World residents are invited to attend a docent-guided bus trip to the Bowers Museum on Tuesday, June 23. Participants will take part in a guided tour beginning at 11 a.m., led by museum staff, offering an in-depth look at selected galleries and exhibits. Fun With Fashion Club: Clothing Exchange


The Fun with Fashion Club will a host a spring/ summer clothing exchange on Monday, June 15, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 6 p.m. Bring up to 15 garments to exchange for something different. When people sign in, they will be given tickets corresponding to the number of items brought. The tickets will be used to check out their new finds. Clothing on hangers is preferred. Dance with live music on June 2


DANCERS & MIXERS The next Dancers & Mixers dance is Tuesday, June 2, from 7-9 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. The dance is free, though donations are welcome. All music is provided by Linda Herman, who has been playing professionally for more than 50 years. With that experience, 5,000 plus songs to choose from and an instrument that is completely digital, she keeps the dancers moving and grooving.
