Tickets available to see ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ in La Mirada
GRF BUS TRIP
Leisure World residents are invited to enjoy the hit musical “Little Shop of Horrors” during a special bus trip to La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Sept. 24. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
Despite the title, “Little Shop of Horrors” is much more comedy than horror. The entertaining musical combines a quirky love story and an outrageous maneating plant with a catchy score inspired by 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop, Motown and R& B.
Set in a struggling flower shop on Skid Row, the story follows shy floral assistant Seymour, his coworker and crush Audrey, and the mysterious plant that suddenly brings Seymour fame and attention. There’s just one problem: Audrey II has a very unusual appetite.
Featuring music by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by Howard Ashman—the creative team behind Disney favorites including “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and the Beast”—the show is packed with humor, memorable characters and infectious songs that have made it a musical theater favorite for more than 40 years. The performance will also feature a cast talkback following the show.
Tickets are $75 per person and include theater admission and round-trip bus transportation from Leisure World. Tickets are available now at the Recreation Office and online at www.lwsb. com/special-events.
