Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, is coming soon and the LW Friends of the Library Bookstore and boutique have items and cards for that special someone. Books are welcome gifts for readers. New selections are added to the sales rack every week, including a recent donation of several of Shakespeare’s works.

The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra is Leisure World’s own professional big band, playing Big Band Swing and jazz standards. The band will play Sunday, Feb. 1, and again on Feb. 15, from 6-9 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. The Velvetones play regularly at LW Clubhouse 4 on the first and third Sundays. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

It has been the tradition of the Creative Writers Club to take advantage of the relative calm following the holiday rush and have its annual party in the quiet month of January instead. This eagerly anticipated social gathering will be held Friday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1.
