Letters to the Editor

Editor:

My wife, Sue, and I brought a rescue dog home about two months ago.

He had been with us for a couple weeks when he ran out our front door about 5 p.m. I went after him but lost him in Mutual 9.

We drove around and couldn’t find him, so I went to Security and gave officers a picture, asking to be called if anyone saw a black-and-white Jack Russell Terrier. We kept getting calls that he was in one Mutual or another. Soon, other people joined in the search.

After dark, people on bicycles with strong lights, and people on scooters and golf carts helped search. I finally went to sleep about 1:30 a.m. About 3 a.m., my wife, who could not sleep, woke me up to tell me our dog Jackson was back home.

My wife heard him howling by the front door, and she let him in. He was gone for 10 hours.

Thank God, he was not attacked by a coyote or hit by a car.

We want to thank all of the people that pitched in and helped look for him, reported sightings and tried to coax him with treats. A big thank you to all those wonderful people.

Mutual 15 is not merely re-markable for its architecturally unique floor plans but also for the diverse shareholders who reside there.

Recently, there was a meetand- greet-and-treat dinner in Clubhouse 4 for our residents and their guests. What a turnout! Hospitality and other committee members put on a fabulous dinner party (ribs, chicken and the works) with entertainment and a Halloween theme. So many attendees filled the large Clubhouse 4 room. What a wonderful opportunity to socialize and celebrate.

This is a highlight of life in Leisure World Seal Beach in general and our Mutual was at its finest thanks to their fine efforts. I'm so proud.

My wife and I, like so many, received notice that SCAN would no longer be offering the Hoag Medical Group we have used for many years.

I dreaded trying to find new coverage, but one 45-minute visit with Kristin Amaral at Vandervoort Insurance right here in LW was all it took to find a great alternative.

It is so nice to deal with professionals like Kristin, who took this burden off our shoulders.

Ed and Dorine Murphy Mutual 5 Editor:

In years past, I was responsible for reasonably significant work products and the management of appropriate staff. Despite the challenges and trials involved, I came to appreciate the life experience. Given the chance, I’d do it again.

Now, even beyond keeping track of my dental and medical appointments, I find my greatest challenge and trial is putting on my socks.

I have come to appreciate the life experience. Given the chance I will continue.
