GRF Weekend Dance: Coconut Breeze
The Coconut Breeze Band will perform Saturday, Oct. 17, in Clubhouse 1 from 6:30-9 p.m., sponsored by the GRF as part of its Battle of the Bands competition.
This is an up-tempo rock ‘n’ roll show with five musicians—one male and three female vocalists. The band includes acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass, drums and percussion. It delivers lively, lyrical and rhythmic music with an mix of memorable and current popular tunes, including songs by Jimmy Buffett, Harry Belafonte, The Eagles, The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Coldplay; John Mayer, John Mellencamp; Ed Sheeran, Santana, B52s, Bruce Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstadt and more.
Their music inspires a wide variety of dances, including conga lines, ballroom, line dance and free expressive dancing. The Coconut “Rockette” dancers encourage movement from the audience.
Guests are welcome if accompanied by a resident. The band provides refreshments. All concerts are free, but tips are accepted and appreciated.
As part of the GRF “Battle of the Bands” competition, attendance at their performances will determine if the band returns to the GRF dance schedule. Be sure to sign in and share feedback with the Recreation Department by emailing kathyt@lwsb.com.
