Club elects offi cers and approves dues increase
PICKLEBALL CLUB
The Leisure World Pickleball Club hosted its annual meeting and barbeque Sept. 13 at Clubhouse 2. About 45 members of the club attended. Officers elected for the 2026/2027 year were Donna Gambol, president; Annamarie Bartovich, vice president; Betsy Barnier, treasurer; and Denise Konopelski, secretary.
Items of general interest were discussed including the need to replace the rebounding practice board and to purchase low-level court barriers to keep errant balls from rolling onto neighboring courts. In an executive session of the board officers, $1,200 was allocated for these items. The GRF Recreation Department has indicated that a portion of the wind screens will be replaced in 2027, with money coming from reserves for these items.
The membership voted to increase annual dues to $10 per year, per member, beginning January 2027. Current members who have not yet paid 2026 dues are reminded that the dues this year are $5 per member. Members should contact Betsy Barnier at 425-829-9219 to arrange for dues payment so that they can sign the roster and be issued a membership card. Barnier is at the courts almost daily but would appreciate a heads up when folks want to register.
Other topics of discussion included the recognition of the Recreation Department for the resurfacing of the courts with the new color scheme highlighting the “kitchen” area. The club sends its heartfelt appreciation to the Golden Age Foundation for its generous donation in funding the Titan pickleball machine.
The next general membership meeting will be Sunday, Dec. 13, followed by a holiday, potluck and dancing in Clubhouse 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
