LW Community Church will hold a Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 9:30 a.m. People are responsible for the care and behavior of the animals they bring, and can also bring a photo of the pet if it’s more convenient.

The church accepts nonperishable food items all year round, and makes them available to those in need through its partnership with We Care, whose motto is “Preventing Homelessness. Restoring Hope.” People can bring donations of food or personal items to the office at 14000 Church Place on Tuesdays-Thursdays, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., or to its weekly worship service on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.

The church is currently on week three of its series in the Season of Creation. This week, the church will read through the story of creation of land between the waters in Genesis 1.

Moving out of the story of creation in Genesis 1, the church will also turn to the Gospel of Matthew, where Jesus teaches his first followers a different economic model than they are used to under Roman occupation. Equality within community was a major teaching point for Jesus; he lived it and was constantly getting in trouble with the authorities for his practice

Community Church makes a point of welcoming everyone who wants to be a part of its growing community of faith. Following the teachings of Jesus, the church intentionally extends that welcome to all, including LGBTQIA+ siblings, immigrants and women.
