Assembly of God

Leisure World Assembly of God meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby.

On Sunday, Aug. 30, Pastor Chuck Franco will share the parable of the rich fool and where eternal wealth is found.

Everyone knows someone who is a collector, gatherer, saver, curator and maybe even a hoarder. The amount of stuff people collect is usually harmless, until it reaches the point where the burden of maintaining things begins to interfere with life and lead to poor choices.

There was a rich farmer in Luke 12:16-21, whose crops were so bountiful that he decided to build more storehouses and then spend the rest of his life in leisure and “making merry.” Gardeners and farmers see the futility of this plan. Stored crops will spoil, and the wealth they represented will evaporate.

The Wednesday Bible study meets at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. It will continue in the series by Dr. Nicole Martin in the book of Jeremiah, with Jeremiah 26:1-29:32. Jeremiah defines the difference between false hope and true hope. The comforting words of a false friend are more dangerous than the troubling truth spoken by one who is loyal. Jeremiah is faced with backlash from people who would rather find comfort in pretty lies than turn from their sin, which will lead to punishment and exile.
