First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
Hebrews 13:9 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Those words were written to Christians from long ago, but still hold true today for all believers new and old. The Jesus who walked upon the earth, teaching, healing and offering forgiveness of sins and life eternal is the same today as he was yesterday.
Jesus offers his love toward all people as Peter wrote, “He is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to cometorepentance,” 2Peter3:9.
When people go through trials and tribulations, it is a strong reassurance that God remains unchanging. Jesus sits on a throne at the right hand of God interceding for people until he returns. The writer of Hebrews continues to encourage believers to hold fast to their confessions of faith without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
Weekly Services
Sunday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and traditional services with hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Ruth Bonnema at the piano. The church choir will sing the special music this week.
Saturday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.
Midweek Studies
Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
The Bible study is on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
Residents are welcome to attend any service or Bible study.
Scripture of the Week
“Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, the One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing,” Isaiah 40:26.
