Assembly of God

Leisure World Assembly of God meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby.

The parable of the shrewd manager, found in Luke 16:1-13, is the subject of this week’s sermon on Sunday, Aug. 23. A manager who was wasting his employer’s money is threatened with termination. The manager began laying groundwork for his future by forming alliances with those who owed his employer and reducing their debt. In an interesting twist, Jesus encourages his followers to use their resources to benefit others and make friends. What is the godly outcome of doing that? Pastor Chuck Franco will share that answer in his message.

The Wednesday Bible study meets at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. It will continue in the series by Dr. Nicole Martin in the book of Jeremiah, with “The Beginning of the End” from Jeremiah 21:1-25:38. The finality of God’s judgment on Israel begins with Jeremiah’s warning that there will be no deliverance from Babylon. The kings who have been wicked and unfaithful will receive judgment. The false prophets will be judged and dealt with. Babylon, the country that God used to punish Israel, will in turn be punished. In summation: no good news for anybody. Imagine Jeremiah’s grief at having to deliver this message.
