LW Korean Community Church (LWKCC) meets for worship at 14000 Church Place every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The early morning prayer service, led by Senior Pastor Yong Jang-Young, is held in the sanctuary at 6 a.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays.

Pastor Young spoke from Revelation 2:1-7 on July 26 about the seven stars and the seven golden lampstands from the Apostle John’s vision.

The pastor began by explaining the historical background of the church in Ephesus. Although Ephesus flourished as a center of culture, commerce, and scholarship, it was also a place where idolatry and pagan customs were deeply rooted, creating a setting of constant spiritual warfare that hindered the spread of the Gospel.

The Apostle John endured severe suffering after being exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the Gospel, however, it was there that he received revelation from the Lord. He sent letters to the seven churches, conveying God’s love and exhortation. His perseverance and sacrifice became a foundation for building the early church.

The seven stars mentioned in the text symbolize the messengers (leaders) of the church, while the seven golden lampstands represent the church itself, shining God’s light into the world. The Lord watches over the saints, acknowledging the labor, tears and prayers of the faithful. Thus, Jesus’ words, “I know your deeds, your hard work, and your perseverance” serve as a promise that the Lord remembers every act of devotion.

Pastor Young emphasized that every believer is a living temple, and the community formed by these believers is the very church where God dwells. Therefore, believers must cherish one another and build each other up in love. They must stand firm in the Gospel each day and anchor their wavering hearts in the word of God.

Pastor Young concluded the sermon by recalling the Lord’s exhortation to the church in Ephesus: “do not lose your first love, hold fast to your faith to the end, and be a church and believers who fulfill the role of salt and light in the world.”
