GRF staff available to train clubs how to use the system

Live closed captioning is now available to all clubs in Clubhouses 3 and 4, thanks to the collaboration between Golden Age Foundation, the GRF IT Department, and the Impaired Vision and Hearing Club with great support from GRF Directors Vicki Burdman and Sandy Geffner.

The new system, coupled with a cellphone, also has the capacity to translate meetings into 23 languages, including English, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, German, French, Chinese, Cantonese, Hebrew, Hindi, Russian and many more.

“I am just so excited over it working. It’s so helpful to people that needed help to hear what was being said in our support group,” said Sharon Kohn of the Impaired Vision and Hearing Club, who was instrumental in bringing the project to fruition along with Don Craig. “It’s just so heartwarming to know that these people who have been missing parts of conversations for years can now read what’s being said.”

To take advantage of this new amenity, be sure to request it when booking a room reservation.
