Presidents’ Council Meeting Recap

THE PRESIDENTS’ COUNCIL Clubhouse 4 and Zoom Tele-Video Conference

The regular monthly meeting of the Presidents’ Council of Leisure World Seal Beach was convened at 1:30 p.m. by President Teri Nugent on Wednesday, July 1, in Clubhouse 4 and via Zoom tele-video conference.

The following is a recap:

• Presidents’ Council meeting minutes of May 6 were approved by unanimous consent of the council members present, as corrected.

• GRF President Jeffery Mulqueen introduced himself as the new GRF Board president and gave a brief overview of GRF’s future.

• PublicInformationOfficerBrianBrannonprovidedinformation on Orange County Vector control regarding rats, West Nile virus, and mosquito prevention tips and tricks.

• SecurityServicesManagerLarryNorlanderprovidedinformation on Coroner, OCPA, and OCPA tags.

• Senior Director of Facilities Mark Weaver provided updates on ongoing projects within the community. He also informed the council about the water municipal district and turf removal project.

• SeniorDirectorofMutualAdministrationJodiHopkinsprovided an update on Mutual elections and the Stock Transfer escrow report. The 2026 election results were also presented to the council members. Mutual 17 had 62% of member participation, which was the highest during the 2026-27 election, and received a trophy for its achievement.

• ExecutiveDirectorDavidNorvellprovidedupdatesregardingGRF staff and ongoing finance projects. He also provided insight behind the scenes regarding committee meetings and reviews. Norvell RECAP

encourages shareholders to get more involved and participate in community gatherings.

• Executive Manager Dave Potter provided an update on Mutual audits and informed the council that reserve study templates are in progress. On behalf of GRF, he also spoke of a current vacancy on the GRF board of directors to represent Mutual 16 due to former representative resignation at the beginning of the term. In accordance with the procedures outlined in the Bylaws, the required protocol has been followed, and it is nowthe responsibility of the GRF board to appoint an individual to fill the vacant seat for the remainder of the term. Open call for candidates is currently ongoing and will close July 22.

• Next council meeting: Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 1:30 p.m., in Clubhouse 4, Zoom Tele-Video Conference and YouTube Live.
