LW Pool Club begins straight pool league season

The Leisure World Pool Club started its new straight pool league schedule on July 7. Twenty-one players will face off each week with the top 11 advancing to the playoffs at the end of the season.

In straight pool, all the balls are available to each player, unlike 8-ball where one is solid and the other is stripes. Each ball is worth one point and its a race to 30 points for the victory.

Impressive wins in week one were accomplished by Frank Sablan, Ruffy Ramos, Bruce Pettys, Phouc Tran, snooker champion Rusty Aquino, Steve Edrich and Millie Larson.

It will be a long season of 20 games for each player, so the players who lost in week one have plenty of time to get in the win column.

LW Pool Club straight pool takes place every Tuesday morning in Clubhouse 1, and all LW residents are invited to view the matches.
