First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
In Luke 8, there is a story of Jesus in a boat with his disciples that was crossing to the other side of the lake. Jesus fell asleep, and a fierce storm came upon the lake. The disciples were fearful of dying, and woke him up. Jesus stood up and rebuked the wind and waves and it became calm.
Jesus then asked the frightened men that had been following him, “Where is your faith?” These men had seen him perform miraculous things in the lives of the weakest and poorest among them. Yet when a storm arose on the sea causing them great fear, Jesus questioned their faith.
There are many believers who are either new in their walk with the Lord or many years along, if asked the question, “Where is your faith?” would stumble with a response. The words of the psalmist in Psalm 146:5-6 can be an excellent faith builder: “How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; and keeps faith forever.”
Weekly Services
Sunday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and traditional services with hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Ruth Bonnema at the piano. This week, the church choir will bring the special music.
Saturday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.
Midweek Studies
Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Bible study on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
All Leisure World residents are welcome to attend.
