Exercise and Longevity in Older Adults
A study led by researchers at the National Cancer Institute found that recreational activities such as walking, swimming and playing tennis may lower older adults’ risk of death from any cause.
Researchers examined running, cycling, swimming, racquet sports, golf and walking for exercise and found that performing any of these activities was associated with a 13% lower risk of death. Racquet sports in particular provide the most health benefits and were associated with a 16% lower risk of death.
