The LW pool league held its sweepstakes event on June 8 in Clubhouse 2. Awards were handed out before play to the outstanding players who had the best winning percentages in singles play for the season.

The sweepstakes schedule was for each Monday night team to play each Wednesday night team in one game of eight ball, followed by one game of nine ball. Since there are six teams in each league, that meant that every team would play 12 games. If winning teams were tied at the end, how many balls each team made in nine ball would be counted and the team that made the most would win.

The Favorites, from the Wednesday league, lead the Monday night Bees by one game going into the final round. They lost their final eight ball game, but so did The Bees. The Predators finished tied for second place with The Bees, but took second place on the basis of making more balls in nine ball. The Burners took fourth place with seven wins and four losses.

The Favorites won four games of nine ball by making combinations on the nine early in the game. When The Rustlers missed the one ball after the break, Brian Tivnan of The Favorites had ball in hand and made the one nine combination to end the game on only three shots.

The fall league will begin on Monday, Sept. 7. Those interested in playing can contact Connie Terry at connieterry20@gmail.com or Steve Edrich at srcc46511@ outlook.com. —Dave Silva
