Numerous studies have indicated the positive benefi ts of getting involved with pickleball, the nation’s fastest growing competitive sport. Perhaps it’s because pickleball is easy to learn, offers opportunity to enhance socializing with folks of differing abilities and ages, and is a fun, affordable activity.

Leisure World has four courts located behind Clubhouse 2. Residents can access the courts from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Members of the Pickleball Club can be found engaged in competitive play every day.

On Wednesdays, the club offers new players instruction in the rules of the game, an introduction to equipment, skill sets and expert advice in positioning and court movement. Instruction is provided by three skilled club members at no cost to residents. Instruction begins at 10 a.m. Paddles and balls are provided. Players must wear court shoes.

On Friday evenings at 6:30 p.m., club members retreat to the adjacent picnic area to participate in a potluck meal, where fellowship and lively discussion becomes the sport. It’s the weekly “Dink and Dine” event, named after a particular short ball return in the game.

Exercise and fellowship are just some of the benefi ts of the Pickleball Club.
