St. Irenaeus 20th anniversary labyrinth walk is on June 15
All are welcome to the 20th anniversary celebration of the Labyrinth Walk on Monday, June 15, at St. Irenaeus Parish Hall, 5201 Evergreen Ave., Cypress, California, 90630.
In honor of the 20th anniversary, a priest will offer a blessing of the Labyrinth at 5:45 p.m. before the walk begins at 6.
The walk will be open until 8:30 p.m. All are welcome to celebrate the beauty of this contemplative, full-body form of prayer.
The walk takes about 20 minutes, but people may stay longer if to continue meditating and enjoy a break from the noise and demands of the day.
St. Irenaeus, the patron saint of the parish, is quoted as saying the following, which reveals the heart of the labyrinth and contemplative prayer:“It is not you that shapes God, God shapes you. You are the work of God. Await the hand of the artist who does all things in due season. Offer God your heart, soft and pliable; and keep the form in which the Artist has fashioned you. Let your clay be moist lest you grow hard and lose the imprint of God’s fingers.”
May every heart be soft and pliable as they pray/walk the labyrinth, so they are open to receive God’s imprint upon their heart.
