Ninth annual Life Options Expo returns June 26
HEALTH & WELLNESS EVENT
The ninth annual GRF Life Options Expo will be held Friday, June 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Clubhouse 4 and Veterans Plaza.
This popular annual event brings together nonprofits, service providers and local vendors to showcase a wide range of resources that can help enhance residents’ quality of life. No RSVP is needed.
Residents can explore over 70 vendors while snacking on food available for purchase from Koffel’s Food Truck, Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ and Drizzle Orange County. Live music will be provided by the Cool Blue Jazz Group.
The Life Options Expo gives people the opportunity to learn about tools that will help them continue to thrive well into their later years.
• Make sure you’re getting the best care: Local hospitals UCI Health Los Alamitos, Kaiser Permanente and MemorialCare will be on site to answer questions about their services, as well as Bennet Acupuncture, Elim Acupuncture Group Inc., the Seal Beach Health & Rehabilitation Center, Falck Ambulance Mobile Care services, and MedCare Medical Pharmacy. Insurance has a major impact on one’s quality of care, and both insurance brokers and healthcare providers will also be on site, including Vandervoort Insurance, SCAN Health Plan and Even Better Insurance. Hampton Inn will also be on site for information on local hotels.
• Get extra help around the house: Caregivers offer a helping hand with everything from companionship and meal preparation to transportation and daily living assistance, making it easier to remain comfortable and independent at home. Caregiving companies in attendance will be Affordable Caregiver, Attentive Home Care, Caregiver Resource Center Orange County, Home Instead, Home Matters, Living Well Home Care and A Previous Elder. CalOptima will answer questions about the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), a federal- and statefunded program for seniors who qualify for nursing home care but want to stay in their homes.
• Get extra support for health issues from the Member Resources Collaboration Team: Aging often brings a range of challenges, and individuals may find themselves relying more on their support networks. However, not everyone has access to the help they need when they need it most. Representatives from Alzheimer’s Orange County, Adult Protective Services, the Orange County Council on Aging, HICAP, and Pathways will be on site to answer questions about case management and more.
• Local agencies dedicated to health and safety: Connect directly with representatives from the American Red Cross, City of Seal Beach Police Department and Animal Control Services and Orange County Fire Authority, as well as Leisure World’s own Emergency Information Council. In addition, the expo features a wide range of vendors offering information on senior transportation, caregiving, advanced planning, county senior services, assisted living, disaster preparedness, financial assistance, hospice, emergency preparedness, hoarding and decluttering services, and much more.
The expo is made possible thanks to event sponsors Caring Transitions, Ivy Park Seal Beach, Mission Hospice, and Westminster Memorial Park.
