LW Library Leads
In Library Leads, library staff highlight exciting new additions to the library collection.
“Yesteryear,” by Claire Caro Burke (Genre: Satire, Suspense) A social media celebrity, a wife and mother who sells her fantasy pioneer lifestyle of sourdough and farm-fresh eggs to her millions of followers, suddenly wakes up cold, dirty, and hungry in the year 1805 and must uncover the nature of her terrifying new existence.
“Playmakers: the Jewish Entrepreneurs Who Created the Toy Industry in America,” by Michael S. Kimmel (Genre: Nonfiction) In 1902, Morris and Rose Michtom invented the Teddy Bear in the back room of their Brooklyn candy store. Together they launched the Ideal Toy Corporation, joining a set of other poor, first-generation Jewish toymakers—conjuring the colorful, imaginative spirits who followed the promise of the American Dream.
