In the LW Pool Club Monday league on May 11, The Burners beat BDG 9-4 to close within nine games of the lead. With two more weeks left in the season, The Burners are in striking distance of second place or even the lead. Ray Friedrichsen scored six points for The Burners and won both of his singles matches. Teammate Elizabeth Butterfield won five games.

The Rustlers beat the league leading Tumbleweeds 8-5. Rusty Aquino and Linda Patton each won five games for The Rustlers.

The Renegades beat the second place Bees 8-5. Ren Villenueva won six for The Renegades, losing only a singles match and teammate Cornel Sneekes won five games.

The Monday night league leaders in singles matches with two weeks to go are Rusty Aquino for the A players, 16; Phuoc Tran, 17, B players; and Paul Ivanoff, 16, C players.

In the Wednesday league, The Pool Addicts maintained a 10-game lead over the second-place Favorites by beating The Rack & Rollers 8-5. Jeff Furlong won six games and both of his singles for The Pool Addicts.

The Favorites beat Break and Run 9-4 to solidify their second-place position. Brain Tivnan won six games for The Favorites, including both of his singles matches, while teammate Dave Silva won five games.

The Predators edged Chalk Dirty 2 Me 7-6. The Predator A player, Gary Snow, won four games and both of his singles.

The players leading in singles wins are Dave Silva and Steve Edrich among the A players with 16 wins each. B player Jeff Furlong has 19 wins and C player Ron Thompson has 17 wins.

Snooker league members were competing for playoff spots in the final weeks of its season.

Rusty Aquino defeated Jeffrey Furlong 42-38 to clinch the regular season title and earn a first-round bye in the playoffs. The win gave Aquino an 11-1 record. Furlong dropped to 10-2 but still held second place. John Barth slipped into the final playoff spot with a 61-26 win over Bruce Pettys (9-2).

Other key scores from week 12 were Brian Burke, 85 (league high game total); Gary Schnaufer, 35; Ray Friedrichson, 63; Steve Edrich 29; Gary Snow, 43; Barry Birdeau, 34. Burke’s win kept him alive for the post-season.

The championship matches will be held Tuesday, May 26, in Clubhouse 1.
