Tournament Poker Club will play May 16 in CH 6

Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em with the Tournament Poker Club for a $5 buy-in can play on Saturday, May 16, in Clubhouse 6. Regular tournaments are held on the first three Saturdays of every month with registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

Registrations are being accepted for the June casino tournament, to be held on Saturday, June 27. This is a casino style tournament. As players are eliminated, others are moved to fill-in their spots until there is one final table. Players must come to the registration table on any Saturday tournament to register in person. The club had a great turnout for its regular tournament on May 2. The week’s high hand winners were: Kurt Bourhenne (9-9-9-9-A), Glen Isom (6-6-66-7), and Doug Wolfe and Mike Gass, who both had (A-A-A-KK). Jack Pfeifer also won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 8-2.

As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Wendy Wu, first place; Kurt Bourhenne, second; Marvin Rolnick, third; Mike Gass, fourth; Guta Basner, fifth; Jae Jun, sixth; Erika Greenwood, seventh; Sunshine Daye, eighth; and Dennis Kotecki, ninth.

Wu has lived in Leisure World for 18 years and has been a member of the club for 13 years. This was her 19th final table win. Wu was a professional dealer before she retired to Leisure World, making it no surprise that she has organized her own Hold ‘Em games and plays in several others. She is also a force to be reckoned with at the table tennis tables, enjoys reading, and cherishes the friendships that she has made here in Leisure World.
