Open mic night is June 26; performers welcome

COCONUT BREEZE CLUB

Leisure World is a repository of various types of talent. To offer an outlet for that performance ability or skill, an Open Mic Night will be held Friday, June 26, in Clubhouse 4, organized by the Coconut Breeze Club. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Residents are invited to share poetry, dramatic readings, comedy routine, musical instrument or song in a safe, encouraging and relaxed setting in front of friends and neighbors. The club envisions an atmosphere somewhere between a coffee house and a Beatnik gathering, but also a comedy club and LA’s Troubadour.

There will be a stage, microphones, sound pick-ups (for guitars, etc.), a piano and a friendly, expectant audience.

Advanced sign-ups are required so the club can plan for the variety of acts or performances. Standard open mic rules apply and include the following:

• Be prepared and on time, respect the hosts instructions and the delicacy of sound equipment adjustments.

• Respect the time constraints issued (between 5 -10 minutes or as arranged in advance).

• Routines must be family friendly and / or age appropriate.

This could be the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream to perform right here in Leisure World.
