The Leisure World Orchestra, celebrating its 60th anniversary, will recreate a work from the ensemble’s first concert in April 1966.

The group in the photo played “Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius at an Easter sunrise service at the Amphitheater. The 2026 orchestra, numbering over 50 musicians, will open its June 6 concert with the same work.

Edgar Hines and his wife, Hazel Hines, are credited as the orchestra’s founders.

In addition to the Sibelius work, the orchestra’s June 6 concert will feature works by Beethoven, Gershwin, Khachaturian, Sousa and Richard Rodgers.

The free concert will be held in Clubhouse 2 at 1 p.m.
