Board adopts new mission statements

STAIRWAY TO SUCCESS

The GRF Board unanimously approved new statements outlining a vision and core values at the April 28 GRF Board meeting. These will augment the mission statement recently finalized in a previous meeting. The board has been working hard to foster a culture of responsible stewardship and accountability, transparency, and integrity in Leisure World.

The board was unified in embracing the values espoused in the new statement. GRF Director Michael Banfield, who represents Mutual 8, had the idea of assigning each value to a corresponding letter to spell the word STAIR—Service, Transparency, Accountability, Integrity, Respect—and using the acronym to headline the statement Stairway to Success.

“That is quite clever,” said Vice President Vicki Burdman, echoing board consensus.

The Stairway to Success statement is as follows:

• Service: We are responsive to the needs of our community.

• Transparency: We communicate openly and provide clear, appropriate information to residents.

• Accountability: We take responsibility for our decisions and outcomes and manage our finances wisely.

• Integrity: We act honestly and ethically in all decisions and interactions.

• Respect: We foster a welcoming environment that values diverse perspectives, and we treat all residents, volunteers, guests, staff, and vendors with fairness and dignity.

The values statement approved April 28 aligns with the recently approved vision and mission statements.

The mission statements are as follows.

GRF Board Purpose: To provide strategic leadership and responsible governance to support the community and its members, help ensure longterm financial sustainability, and maintain and enhance Trust properties.

Our Commitment: To empower and support staff in delivering high-quality, responsive services, prioritizing the best interests of the community and providing transparency wherever appropriate while considering member needs and voices in all decisions and initiatives undertaken by the Golden Rain Foundation.

GRF Staff Purpose: To serve the Leisure World Seal Beach community, the Leisure World Mutuals, and their residents with professionalism, care, and respect—promoting interactions that contribute to a positive member experience.

Our Commitment: To deliver consistent, responsive customer service that builds trust and enhances daily life for our members, while embodying integrity, collaboration, and accountability in all our work.

The vision statement was also approved at the April 28 meeting as follows.

GRF Vision Statement: To foster a vibrant, harmonious community where every interaction builds a sense of belonging and residents feel valued and supported.
