“O woman, your faith is great; be it done for you as you wish,” Matthew 15:28. Those are the words of the Lord Jesus, championing the faith of women, as he does throughout the New Testament. This will be the Mother’s Day theme for LW Baptist Church’s Sunday service on May 10 at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2.

Jesus’ dear mother treasured his every word (Luke 2:51), seeing himself as her advocate (John 19:26-27) and savior (Luke 1:47), of whom she could ask anything (John 2:3-5), and whose love filled her mind.

Though Jesus’ brothers at first were not believers (John 7:5), their mothers’ faith in her son prevailed, and all the family are found at last together in the upper room in Acts (1:14), constantly devoted to prayer and awaiting the promised sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the family circle was complete and unbroken.

Women of faith, hope and love accomplish their purpose, for it is God’s purpose for them and their families. The Christian’s faith-testimony is a blessing that goes beyond, to eternity.
