Presidents’ Council Meeting Recap
THE PRESIDENTS’ COUNCIL Clubhouse 4, Zoom and Tele-Video Conference
The regular monthly meeting of the Presidents’ Council of Leisure World Seal Beach was convened at 1:30 p.m. by President Rich Carson on April 1 in Clubhouse 4, and via Zoom tele-video Conference and You-Tube live.
The following is a recap:
• Presidents’ Council meeting minutes of March 4 were approved by the Council as written.
• GRFPresidentLindaHerman provided updates on the GRF representatives board, and on the March GRF board meeting that included approval of the closed captioning project, refurbishment of Administration lobby upstairs, and the removal and reinstallation of HVAC units and antenna in Clubhouse 6. She added that the ID card pedestrian gate project has been sent to committee for further review. Herman also informed the council of the approval on the following projects: temporary air conditioning system for the Clubhouses, Veterans Plaza concrete replacement, and a portable sound system for Clubhouse 1.
• SecurityServicesDirectorVictor Rocha provided information on scam awareness and reporting policy to protect the residents from fraud and scams.
• Member Resources Liaison Robann Arshat provided information on Adult Protective Services, collaboration team of social workers, and other helpful resources available to residents. She also informed the council of an upcoming event—My Clean Home: Education and Resource Event that will take place on Thursday, April 30, at 2 p.m., in Clubhouse 4. Arshat also reminded council members of importance of self care and brain health, and doing one thing at a time.
• Senior Director of Facilities Mark Weaver informed the council of receiving 430 smoke detectors with the help of OC County Fire Authority and Red Cross. Weaver also provided information on AB572 ornamental turf removal project to begin in 2029. He added that the Physical Property Council working committee met with city and county representatives on April 9 to discuss further plans and options.
• A representative from the Orange County Fire Authority Elizabeth Denney discussed upcoming opportunities and collaborations.
• Senior Director of Mutual Administration Jodi Hopkins provided an update on Mutual Administration, including the progress on reorganization of documents on CINC, and the Stock Transfer escrow report. She also introduced Stock Transfer manager Epa Barua.
• Stock Transfer Manager Epa Barua formally introduced herself to the council and provided a brief professional background.
• SeniorPortfolioManagerSpecialist Ripa Barua provided an update on Mutual Elections.
• ExecutiveDirectorDavidNorvell expressed his appreciation to staff and emphasized the importance of taking regular breaks to help ensure the continued safety and well-being of Golden Rain Foundation operations.
• Next Council Meeting: Wednesday, May 6, at 1:30 p.m., in Clubhouse 4, and via Zoom tele-video conference and YouTube live.
