LW Men’s Golf Club
The LW Men’s Golf Club tournament held on April 8 at the 1,680-yard par 54 Turtle Lake course was a windless and cool morning at the start of play. Forty-nine golfers teed off at 7:30 a.m. with each man competing for best net scores, four circle holes, and two closest to the pin challenges. Rain gear was carefully packed in the golf bags, as it looked threatening most of the morning.
Fairways and tees were in great condition, but every green had been aerated and sanded the previous week. This left the greens in inconsistent condition as well as bumpy and sandy. This accounted for just 14 of the 49 men scoring net at or under par.
There were 50 birdies and nine circle holes.
Closest to the pin on hole No. 7 was Seung Lee and on No.
16 it was Youn Lee. Average net score for the round was 57.7.
Low net scores for the round were Steve Kang at 9 under 45; Seung Lee, 5 under 49; Daniel Mahoney, Kevin Childress and Steve Walker, 4 under 50.
A flight winners (handicaps of 0-5): Seung Lee, first place; Childress, second; Andrew Kim, Fujio Norihiro and Seon Kim, third; Trai Nguyen, Thomas Kim and Bob Johnstone, fourth.
