First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together. “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Approximately 1,600 years after the creation of mankind and all living things, God sent a flood that covered the entire earth, killing all but Noah, his sons and their wives.

After being in the ark for an entire year, Noah was instructed by God to exit the ark with all the living animals, birds and creeping and swarming things, to abundantly multiply and be fruitful on the earth. God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.”

Then God gave Noah instructions for a new way of eating. Prior to that time, mankind had only eaten herbs and plants. Now, they are told every moving thing that is alive shall be food for them with the condition that they do not eat the blood of the animals.

God goes on to announce that any animal or man that kills a man shall be sentenced to death, “For in the image of God, He made man.”

Finally, God establishes covenants with Noah and his descendants. Genesis 9:11 says “I establish my covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.” God adds, “I set my bow in the cloud and it shall be a sign of a covenant between me and the earth. It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.”

A rainbow in the sky is a beautiful reminder of God’s unconditional promise to mankind and a testimony of a promise from God that continues even today.
