‘Elders’ inspire others on and off the golf course

At the Turtle Lake Golf Course in Leisure World, four golfers in their 90s gather every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday to play golf. The four golfers—Kim Sang Hyun, Joh Hee Keun, Soh Kyo Min and Michael Oh—are collectively known as the “elders” and are respected by all the golfers.

Cribbage Club
The Cribbage Club meets each Tuesday in Clubhouse 1. A dollar is collected from each member before play begins. Members who arrive by 12:15 p.m. are assured of a place at the table. Announcements are shared at 12:25 with games beginning at 12:30. New players are always welcome. No previous experience or partners are needed. Yearly dues are $5.

Shuffleboard Club wraps summer
The Shuffleboard Club held its annual barbecue on Aug. 9 at the Clubhouse 1 picnic area. Members enjoyed a fabulous picnic of tri-tip barbecued by Sue and Minda Burkschab, along with side dishes and desserts supplied by members. This was the end-of -summer event in preparation for the beginning of the fall league. The courts were closed Aug. 18-19 for resurfacing. The fall league will begin the week
