Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in should make plans to play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, Jan. 3. Regular tournaments are held on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with registration at 10:10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. Tournaments are now at seating capacity. Late arrivers have a good chance of not being able to play.

On Dec. 13, the club had a record turnout for the casino tournament. Seventy-two players attended this biannual event. “Casino” tournaments are named that way because they are played as an elimination tournament—the way it is generally done in a casino. As players are eliminated, tables are broken, and the remaining players reseated until only one table of nine remains.

The final nine players were: Wayne Kirshner, first place; Roy Mittlestadt, second; Young Cho, third; Nita Doyan, fourth; Tom Pappas, fifth; Rolando Ramirez, sixth; Jeff Rolnick, seventh; Frank DePalma, eighth; Lem Hall, ninth.

Among the regular members of the club and invited guests were Wayne Kirshner and his wife, Sharon. The club congratulates Kirshner as the winner of the tournament.

A special thanks to the club members who helped with the tournament set up and clean up.
