First Christian Church

First Christian Church teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church, joining in worship and exploring God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Pastor Chris Cherryholmes will be the guest speaker at both services this weekend. He will continue in the book of James, chapter 2. James, the half-brother of Jesus, has two paramount messages in this book of the Bible.

James first addresses the attitude of favoritism in the body of Christ. He points out partiality is a sin and transgresses the law, saying in James 2:13, “Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

The second message is about faith without works. James puts a question to a “foolish fellow” in verse 20, “But are you willing to recognize that faith without works is useless?”

Pastor Cherryholmes will bring into focus how both messages are still critical for believers today.
