JOYFUL LINE DANCE

The Joyful Line Dance Club meets on Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon in Clubhouse 2. The club divides its classes into two parts with a brief break in between—to accommodate dancers of all levels.

Albert Comia leads the first hour of the class with an easy-tofollow routine that is welcoming to newcomers. He begins the class with “Elvira” and “Achy Breaky Heart,” or “Tennessee Waltz,” “Jo ‘n’ Jo Tango,” “Ah Si!,” “Chilly Cha Cha” and “New York, New York.” All the dances are done to different music but a similar pace.

Karen Kei teaches intermediate to advanced dances and introduces new line dances each month.

People are welcome to stay for the two-hour class or just attend the first or second half of it. The club has seen growing interest in line dancing and encourages those who enjoy dancing to join it. Comia said that with regular practice people can improve their line dancing skills in just a couple of months.

Exercise shoes are advised; no flip flops or sandals. Everyone who wants to attend must register first. Membership is $20 per calendar year. For more information, text 562-301-5339.
