The May 1 Art League meeting will feature celebrated watercolorist Joe Cibere as the spotlight artist and demonstrator.

“I always look forward to interacting with art patrons and other artists to give feedback about the creative process and affirm that visual expression is one of life’s greatest joys,” Cibere said.

Cibere is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, and his painting style demonstrates his love of nature and wilderness. His “abstract realism” paintings integrate strong design and balance with a sense of illusion and have appeared in “Watercolor Magazine” and in the International Artists book “The Watercolor Sky and Cloud Techniques of 23 International Artists”. Working out of his studio in Old Town Camarillo, Cibere has been a guest demonstrator at several art organizations and conducts workshops on watercolor technique throughout the year.

LW artists can exhibit their creations at the the League’s May 1 meeting at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. This month’s theme is flowers. All entries must be checked in before 5:30 p.m.

The competition requires only one entry per member. An additional entry is permitted for the popular vote or 3D/crafts category. The judge awards a first, second or third ribbon in each category, as well as a best of show ribbon and honorable mentions, at the judge’s discretion.

All Leisure World artists are invited to submit their work for consideration to be displayed at the Art in Bloom fine art exhibition on June 22 at the Veterans Plaza. Applications for the exhibition are available at the Recreation Office in Building C. Request a pdf version via email to lwsb.artleague@gmail.com.
