First Christian Church

Join First Christian Church for a special service when all Christians recognize the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pastor’s Message

Christians around the world started their most holy celebration last Sunday with Palm Sunday, the day Jesus made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The celebration continues today, April 17, with Maundy Thursday, a celebration of Holy Communion. Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion and death of Christ on the cross, followed by his burial. This is followed by the resurrection of Jesus from the dead on resurrection morning. Luke 24:4-7 says, “And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, ‘Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how he spoke to you while you were still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful man, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’’” What else could the women who had originally gathered to complete the burial process do but run and tell others that the tomb was empty, Jesus had risen from the dead.
