Spring league sign-ups available starting Feb. 27

Shuffleboard courts are closed this week at least through today, Thursday, Feb. 20, and possibly Friday as well. The closure is due to concrete work done the previous week that did not dry sufficiently because of the rain. This hiccup in the schedule means the winter leagues will end later and the spring leagues will start later. Registration for the spring leagues will be available at the courts starting Friday, Feb. 27.

Even with the rainy weather, a great time was had by the 56 members and guests for the Shuffleboard Club’s Valentine’s potluck party. The hostesses— Donna Perkins, Marilyn Blackmun and Sue Rotter—assisted by the decorations committee headed by Sally Fowler, created an environment perfect for the holiday party. President Karen Mendon was able to conduct the February business meeting in spite of the excitement for the great meal and games afterward. Club members were generous with purchasing raffle tickets, with the prizes being spring flowers handcrafted by Sally Fowler and painted rocks donated by Fred Carpenter.

Feb. 7 Friday morning league results: Team Carol surpassed Team Shel 8-4. Team Carol all-game winners featured two substitutes Sally Fowler and Lynne Haines and regular Harold Morehead. Team Shel’s lone all-game winner was Micki Aiello. Team Jack and Team Patti tied things up 6-6 with Teri James as Team Jack’s all-game winner and Connie Terry and Steve Edrich as Team Patti’s allgame winners.

Feb. 11 Tuesday evening league results: Team Bob swept past Team Sally 9-3. Team Bob had three all-game winners— Minda Burkschab, Bob Peterson and Ellie West. Team Sally had none. Team Harold upset Team Sue 9-3. Team Harold had three all-game winners—Roger Bennett, Anne Calvo and Sue Rotter. Team Sue’s all-game winner was Kathryn Ewell.
