Guys and Gals Golf Tournament

A sunless but warm and humid morning greeted 27 teams of golfers at the Sept. 16 Guys and Gals Golf Tournament. The teams of one woman and one man competed for best net scores, four circle holes, and two closest to the pin challenges.

Twenty of the 27 teams shot net below par with the lowest gross score of a 2 under 52 and net score of 8 under 46 carded by Dave LaCascia and Jessica Choi. Tom Owens and Lela Lee had a net 7 under 47, with several other teams at net 6 under 48.

Closest to the pin for the men on the sixth hole was Daniel Mahoney, and on the 15th it was Steve Walker. For the women it was Linda Herman and Grace Kim. There were 12 circle holes and 48 birdies.

A flight winners (team

handicaps 0-5): Pat Paternoster and Kyung Kim, first place; Bill Lyons and Kyung Ju, Mike Mayfield and Grace Kim, second; John Kolthoff and Young Shin, third.

B flight winners (team handicaps of 5-9): LaCascia and Jessica Choi, first place; Owens and Lela Lee, second; Brad Myer and Lela Lee, third; Alan Sewell and Lynn Baidack, Rod Osgood and Laura Garcia, fourth; Peter Kim and MaryAnn Moore, fifth.

C flight winners (team handicaps of 10 -18): Walter Kim and Liz Meripol, first place; Jae H. and Sun Lee, Joel Kellum and Pam Smith, Scott Tuchfarber and Patty Littrell, second; Terry Thrift and Marilyn Hewitt, Steve and Connie Kang, third.

The next Guys and Gals Tournament will be on Oct. 21. The men’s tournament is played every second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Tee times for both tournaments are posted in the starter shack and players are requested to check the list or contact Scott Tuchfarber at 909-684-0426, or Dave LaCascia at 801-674-5975.

The Sept. 30 tournament will be a shotgun scramble with first tee time at 8 a.m. and a $10 entry fee. Players must have a handicap to play. A free potluck luncheon at Clubhouse 2 will follow at 1 p.m. Sign ups for both are at all Tuesday and Wednesday women’s and men’s tournaments. All women’s and men’s golf club members and their significant others are invited to attend the potluck picnic.
