Construction: New Restroom in CH 4
Work has begun on a new unisex, ADA-compliant restroom in Clubhouse 4. Construction is expected to conclude by the end of May.
The project involves building a standalone restroom near the clubhouse’s kitchen area which will not affect access to the building’s existing men’s and women’s restrooms. They will remain open during construction.
The current gendered bathrooms are not fully ADA-compliant. The bathrooms were built pre-1990, before the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law. The original clubhouse restrooms were recently refurbished, and the existing stalls were designed to be as handicap friendly as possible without undertaking the costly plumbing reconfiguration necessary for full ADA compliance.
Despite this, the GRF Board majority agreed that the clubhouse should offer a fully ADA-compliant stall so that everyone can participate in Clubhouse 4 events—which include Board meetings, community town halls, dances and special events. The GRF Board approved the project at its Jan. 27 meeting, at a cost not to exceed $78,790.
