I love the Leisure World Weekly newspaper! It is one of the weekly highlights of my life since I moved into Seal Beach Leisure World. I read it cover to cover and often cut out sections that are helpful to me and to our community here.

The Friends of the Library Bookstore is also a treasure full of delights next to the LW Library, and that library is much more and better than I expected! So I decided to donate my small paperback book, “Finding God,” not to just any library, but to the LW Library, and three copies to the bookstore. We are blessed to have two outstanding treasures in our local community.

Earlier this year our beloved companion dog, Harvey, passed away. When I saw the article in LW Weekly featuring Mutual 15 resident Sung Soo Kim’s talent for sculpting in clay and his desire to freely share his gift with others, I was touched.

While the news of the day often includes items that feed our worries, the story of Mr. Kim’s kindness and generosity was refreshing. Initially I could hardly believe his generous offer to make personal pet sculptures for residents at no cost! However, after seeing letters from other shareholders detailing their experiences, I decided to send Mr. Kim a few photos of Harvey and asked if he would consider making a memorial sculpture for us. Today I hold the sculpture in my hand. Thank you, Sung Kim. And, if you’ve wondered whether such a generous offer is too good to be true or if there is a catch, I can assure you, there is none. Mr. Kim accepts free commissions, fulfilling them as time permits—it is clearly a generous labor of love and a joy for him. I encourage you to email him at 9009kss@gmail.com. Angela M.
