Harvest Festival returns to Community Gardens Oct. 24

GRF’s second annual Harvest Festival is Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Community Gardens, located at 13101 Nassau Drive. Admission is free.

The fall celebration will feature live bluegrass music, handson gardening workshops, lawn games, a garden scavenger hunt, a food drive benefiting the OC Food Bank and raffle drawings with several major prizes.

The Wimberley Bluegrass Band will provide live music throughout the festival, performing three 45-minute sets beginning at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Residents can also get their hands in the soil during two gardening workshops at 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Led by an experienced gardener, the hands-on activity will demonstrate how to grow a plant from seed. Seeds and materials will be provided, and people can take their newly planted seedling home to continue growing.

A scavenger hunt will encourage residents to explore the Community Gardens while searching for locations pictured on the scavenger hunt sheet. Residents who complete the hunt will receive a raffle ticket.

The festival will also support the OC Food Bank. Bring non-perishable, non-expired food items for donation. Each donated item will earn one raffle ticket.

Raffle prizes will include a Samsung 75-inch TV, a $100 Home Depot gift card and a one-year lease for a Community Gardens plot.
