Sunshine Club
Dr. Megan Witbracht will give a presentation titled “Unlocking the Brain’s Secrets—the Gift of Brain Donation” to the Sunshine Club on Friday, Aug. 7, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
Witbracht will share the advancements that have been made through examining brain tissue. She will show the audience real human neuropathological specimens and point out different features of the brain. Witbracht will discuss the opportunities available in longitudinal cohort study and the importance of brain donation for research.
Witbracht, PhD, is the associate director of education at the University of California, Irvine, Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND). With over 11 years of dedicated service at UCI MIND, she oversees the institute’s education and outreach programs. Witbracht earned her PhD in nutrition from the University of California, Davis. Her research interests focus on understanding the motivations behind research participation and exploring the barriers that individuals face when enrolling in Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials.
