Find weight loss support and weekly inspiration with the Wa-Rite Club
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Fridays from 9-10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LWID cards must be shown. For support on a weight-loss j ourney, women are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
On July 24, the club lost a total of 15.5 pounds with Joyce Brannon as the biggest loser. Brannon lost three pounds by eating out in restaurants less often and exercising more.
Phyllis Spencer, a professional storyteller and librarian, talked about the story of “Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett.” She described Crockett as someone who could walk like an ox and run like a fox; jump across the Grand Canyon with both eyes shut and nothing or nobody could scare her. Spencer spun a tale in a very masterful and imaginative manner about this amazing woman, her bravery, and the ability to defend herself.
The weekly food for thought was: “Friendship can be a powerful tool for positive change.”
