Faith Christian Assembly
As people celebrate and honor mothers this month, Faith Christian Assembly will look at what God’s word has to say about the women who have nurtured and guided all people with their wisdom and love.
Proverbs 31:30-31 says, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates.”
In Proverbs 31, Solomon is describing what a virtuous woman is like, and she looks nothing like what is lauded among society today. This chapter is a sobering reminder that believers cannot look to our culture for truth. The word of God is a believer’s guide to living in the fear of the Lord, as Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
The world praises youth, beauty, power and riches, which do not last. But the women who purposefully and diligently live in obedience to God will receive her praise through God. Her family would praise her because she was committed to doing good, and teach them to walk out their duty to God and one another.
